Classes Resume this Sunday, February 22 and Tuesday, February 24

Despite the frigid weather, we hope you had a restful time off from school.
We look forward to seeing you this week and be with you on your Lenten Journey.

This Lent our Religious Education classes will be participating in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that helps students and families experience Lenten spirituality by helping people in need around the world.

Each family is receiving a cardboard Rice Bowl and Lenten Spiritual Guide.

Look at these materials as a family and invite your child to consider what he or she will give up for Lent.  You may also consider giving something up together as a family.  Have your child write his or her goal on the side of the Rice Bowl. One simple way to participate is to put the money that you would have used to purchase your Lenten sacrifice (candy, junk food, soda) into the Operation Rice Bowl. Your Lenten sacrifice will become not just something that helps you, but also helps those in need.
The Lenten Calendar has two minute reflections for each day of Lent, Stories of Hope from people around the world, and recipes for simple meatless meals.  Consider reading the Lenten Calendar reflections each day at dinner or right before bedtime, and also try one or more of the recipes for a meatless Friday dinner.

Enclosed on the back of this letter is some more information about why we fast and give alms and a short prayer as you begin your Lenten sacrifice.  Please take time as a family to look it over together.

Be sure to visit crsricebowl.org to view videos of people whose lives are touched by your support of CRS Rice Bowl. You can also find fun activities for your family. We will collect the Rice Bowls during the last week of class (March 27 and April 7) and will send a reminder home with details about turning in your Rice Bowls closer to the end of Lent.

Thank you for using CRS Rice Bowl with your family this Lent.
